DECORATING MASTERS HISTORY
Decorating Masters Institute originated as Custom Accents Inc., and was founded by Rita Warner in 1989 in Roswell, Georgia. Custom Accents marketed classes on a regional basis for the instruction of faux finishing and home décor and accessorizing.
The school was quite successful, and in 1996, a major craft company acquired Custom Accents and marketed it under the name of "Decorating Masters Institute" on a national and international basis, under Rita Warner's direction.
After 2 years, Rita and her husband Ron reacquired Decorating Masters Institute. DMI outgrew its Georgia facility and was moved to Ft. Myers, Florida where it now operates in a state-of-the-art facility. In Ft. Myers, DMI expanded its instructional offering to include a comprehensive day school for the "do-it-yourselfer", offering not only many Faux Finishing techniques but also up to 40 other home décor and accessorizing classes, which range in length from 2˝ hours to multi-day workshops.
Because the DMI concept in our Ft. Myers classroom has proven so successful, DMI decided to take "Boot Camp on the road".
As of March 2007, DMI is traveling throughout the US teaching its fabulous 5 day career program.
